This quote encapsulated the vibrant sense of optimism at the Baby Friendly Initiative conference in November.

Expectations are high for 2009 following the recent announcement that 40 PCTs have received new Department of Health funding to increase breastfeeding rates.

BOURNEMOUTH CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT

Booking is now open for the 2009 Baby Friendly Initiative conference in Bournemouth.

Speakers confirmed so far include:

- Peter Bundred on the effect of breastfeeding on obesity

- Mark Cregan on stem cells in breastmilk

- Kathy Kendall Tackett on postnatal depression in new mothers
